Phillip Straus is a well known black and white photographer focusing on detail. He mainly photographs detailed portraits and some landscapes

(pictures in the gallery below). 

He takes the portraits and landscapes on one camera that he has used for 25 years!  However, he wasn't always interested in photography.

When he was a young man, he passed a degree in engineering, 

Back to his photography!   Phillip Straus captures his photographs with an aperture of around f22

up to f44 so he can achieve a clear photograph in the lightest of conditions, whilst also achieving to get all of the frames in sharp detailed focus, normally around the 200 - 400 area this should achieve a non-pix-elated image, while the background of the image is clear.

Phillip does not use Photoshop to enhance his images, he uses a camera with film that has to be developed into the photographs,

The background image is one taken by me (Charlie) and with my friend Will Ford editing this to achieve the black and white image. The pictures to the right (in the gallery) were taken by Phillip Straus. Our interpretation of Phillip Straus's images are below this.
