Overall all went according to plan which was brilliant!
This is my walkthrough of events on the day of our first interview, I arrived first at 10 to 11, followed by Amelia and Kirsty who arrived on time at 11, I had already been speaking to Dr Greenhouse for about ten mins before their arrival, I had been warming up after being tired from 2 hours work I had done earlier in the morning. After talking I began to set up the equipment and quickly realised there was going to be some background interruptions during the interview, like doors, shutting and the Aircon above, so I carefully set up my main shotgun mic (rode video mic go) and also an XLR microphone, however the XLR microphone audio is unusable, but it could be used to pull information (audio) from the interview if the other two mics had failed, thank god they did not. The secondary Mic was my phone Galaxy Note 9, which in reviews has been praised for its microphone quality and the fact it records in stereo, so I laid it on the desk face down had one end facing Amelia who was asking the questions and one end facing Dr greenhouse. When I checked the audio from the phone it was perfect no complaints and it could have been used if my rode mic had failed. However, while filming I was scared about my rode microphone, it seemed like there was some electrical interference noise present while I was wearing the headphones, it was only present for about 10 mins in the interview. With research I have found that it was my headphones making this noise or my headphone jack on my camera has some dust in, luckily you cannot hear the buzzing whilst playing back the video.
With regards to other camera settings, my camera has auto white balance like many other modern cameras these days, so there was no need to set a manual white balance. The picture quality and focus were perfect which was great. I also recorded the video in 1080p 25fps, with an aperture of f2.8 and a shutter speed of 50. There is a small problem though there is some grain present in the video as I did not have enough space to use my 42.5 mm lens with an aperture of f1.7 which would have helped in the conditions we were in today (there would be less grain and more bokeh, though the room was small, and I did not have enough space.
I believe that’s all to say, we got consent forms filled out as well as well as the video footage backed up to 4 places including the cloud.
There is a lot to edit but, I believe the questions were great and we have made a promising start as a team.
