Issues before filming include:
- viewpoint
- Representation
- Access
- Health and safety
- how we got access (how we as a group found the people to interview)
Issues while filming may include:
- people are late
- equipment breaks
- Weather suddenly changes
- Other crowd control issues
Examples of issues before filming:
Health and safety concerns, we need to research health and safety before we go out to film this would include, doing a recce on the place we want to film and jot down all possible, example we had already done a health and safety checklist before we went to film Dr Green house and we found that we need to wash our hands before and after we visit the building to prevent catching a virus.
Finally making sure we have permission to film at locations this would mean contacting land owners before we film on a location and also remembering to print out consent forms before we film on location. We have already begun researching places where to film and why we are filming there in the first place, also how we will use other footage and insert it into our documentary.
We have good access already to women going through the menopause however we obtained this access by firstly having my mum already going through it, she said yes to doing some interviews and also my brother and i would answer some questions about the subject. We also followed up a name Dr greenhouse which Gina gave us we contacted the wish clinic in Weston and they were happy to do an interview the next day. Then we received some detail on a woman running a social website for women going through the menopause (a contact of Mel), we are still in the process of getting an interview date with her however.
Examples of issues while filming:
There are many things that can go wrong while filming, here are examples of some issues we may run into.
Firstly a crew member is late for an interview. Improvise, make sure everyone has experience with the cameras (if the camera operator is late). If an interviewer is late make sure you go through the questions with the person you are going to interview or possibly perfect the filming set up and talk to the person you are going to interview about the topic so that they don’t become frustrated waiting.
If there are any technical issues while filming like a tripod has broken or the camera is refusing to record and possibly you cannot hear any audio through the headphones, make sure you have two of everything for example: With our interview with Dr Greenhouse, we had two audio recording devices and one on the camera. I was constantly checking each device to make sure the interview was running smoothly so that our footage would be fine when it comes to editing.
