Yesterday our group (Crimson Productions) presented our PowerPoint on our documentary (Menopause Uncovered). Firstly, I was well impressed by the effort put into the PowerPoint by my colleges and I. We also managed to keep the PowerPoint 10 mins long which was the time we had to present it. However, it was not all smooth sailing and I have absolutely criticized myself and the rest of my team in a constructive manner on the whole PowerPoint and our dedication towards the project.

So first, what went well.

-We kept to the time we had to present (10 mins)

-We all knew our slides and what we were meant to say when they came up

-We had 6 full copies of our PowerPoint printed out ahead of the day of the presentation

-We had researched (some) facts well, for example, our target audience and our demographics and psychographics.

-The trailer I had made a week before played well on the whiteboard and had no picture or sound issues and looked great (in my opinion)

-The laptop connected to the whiteboard without a hitch and we set up early enough so that if there was a problem we would have time to solve it

-We answered all but one question well (issues before filming)

-Our PowerPoint was the only one that I saw that had a good balance between writing and Pictures.

-Our PowerPoint was clean and good looking.

-We all had clear loud voices as we were well rehearsed.

-For the last point I think I did a really good job of making sure everyone was writing and researching something that they wanted to do, also I was working to improve my teammates productivity in some cases I had to go over certain slides and help some colleges write their slides with them so that they felt like they could do it and were comfortable presenting their slides.

Next my reflection on the grade we got:

I believe we were fairly marked as a team, we all put in enough to get a good grade, however, I know I want an excellent for this I need to both listen more in lessons and also find a way to motivate my team members. But on the whole, I think we deserved the "good" grade but for this project, I want to achieve a distinction.

Mel marked us the most kindly but was not very critical like Dan and Gina were we were heavily scrutinised in our examples and terminology, we did talk about examples, however, there really is no content in the documentary format on the menopause, there are plenty of interviews that I talked about in the presentation in the question time and also talks about it in breakfast shows and as well as this the comedic side of the menopause with both male and female comedians talking about it, we should have really done a slide on this hence the low marking. Also terminology I agree the terminology should have been better on my slides I'd say it was up to scratch but on other peoples, it could have been better researched and less rushed. for the day. The other small things to improve on I think just needed a little more talking about like how research aided us and how it will as well as claims of the documentary what it's going to do, how it will help women and also men watching. so, on the whole, I'm happy with the marking as I believe there is always room to improve and this gives me the reminder that I can do even more, below are other things my team and I can improve on.

What I could improve on (self-marking)

one of my slides (the last one) was not up to scratch with the rest of the PowerPoint (I confess to that) this is because the slide (issues while filming) had some information that I should have put on a different slide. Instead in this slides place, I should have included the issues BEFORE filming slide and included such facts: if we couldn’t find someone to interview, we should have talked to someone else in advance to make sure we have a backup specialist, it was this information we did not include in our presentation. Also, I should have written about health and safety issues before we visit a location as this is a subject that we did not talk about and is also an issue before filming. Finally I should have put on this slide access to locations, say weather (can we even all get to a location in the first place) and finally do we even have permission to film in this place even if we did all get to the location for this we would need to contact the owners on the land in advance where we would be filming and also print consent forms in advance to ensure that we ware fully prepared on the day of filming. This slide should have been in the PowerPoint.

Another subject that I could improve on, is the fact I am still quite new to working as a team and making decisions as a team and not only by myself like I have been previously used to. I can only try my best to improve even more in the future as working even better as a team, I also think I should relax a little and not become stressed by the little things in this project.

For myself, however, I have lots to think about and plenty more to learn for example audio and lighting and definitely most importantly, working even more efficiently as a team leader and double checking all the work is there before presenting the PowerPoint! (read through the brief not just once or twice but 5 or 6 times and even after that keep looking back at it throughout the project).

Below is what the missing slide should have included:

overall though really impressed with the team and can’t wait to move onto the next stage of this documentary subject!

Below is the actual presentation and below that is the marking sheets from my teachers.
