Researching Locations

Today we sat down as a group and researched locations for filming, we also discussed what we would like as well as what we have.

Firstly, we wanted a cottage for our first birthday scene in our trailer, this would be for shots of the dressed room with birthday banners as well as our actor Ellena, opening presents and the card she will open, that will reveal challenges. so, for this, we had my Dad’s house in Wrington.

Next, we thought about a place in Backwell, that Joe had in mind, it’s called the BT Radio Research Laboratory, now rented to Vodaphone. To gain access to this location I would need to speak to both the owners of this location as well as Vodaphone. This location is a complex of abandoned, creepy buildings that have been almost untouched since the ’70s. Also, in this location, we will be filming Ellena looking for a safe, with another character yet to be decided looking around for her.

Then we thought of Kes’s cabin that’s located in the back of his garden, it has a creepy feel if you are looking towards it straight on. We would use this location to either hide a box of a key and film Ellena searching for it.

In the next location we will film in my back garden, in a swimming pool that has red LED’s, what we will do is put our actor Sam in the pool and tell him to lay face down to give the illusion that he is in fact dead, it will also try to get the viewer thinking why did he died, did Ellena get to the box in time?

In the next scene, we will be filming upstairs in my father’s cottage in the spare bedroom and get Ellena to wake up almost Like everything’s a dream, here we will need the bed to be made and prepared for this scene. we want this location in our final production.

After this we want to film Ellena running down to a barn in the middle of a field in Wrington, we want her to open the barn doors then proceed to find a box somewhere in the barn. We also would like some drone shots of her running through a field towards the barn.

Finally, we want to film at Clevedon Marine Lake. For some action shots of Ellena running down to the lake jumping in and swimming to a box hidden beneath a Boy (I can provide the Boy).

Order of locations for the recce day (when Kes and I go out and scout off of the locations to plan a shot list.

Kes’s house -> Backwell -> Clevedon -> Wrington locations (x3) -> Kes’s house (to drop Kes home).
