April the 7th Reflections.
This week has been very productive for us as a group, and we have made many changes to our idea! So, let me begin. The first significant differences are, that we are going from 3 teenagers and two senior men to 2 teenagers and 2 senior men. This change was made as we were struggling to confirm the positions we had for the teenage actors. Of course, changing the number of actors makes it a bit of a pain, as we would have to change our proposal. The new idea is as follows; we will start the film with the two senior men sat at a table which will now be brothers, there will also be some flowers on a table. Paul the younger of the two men will then get up and walk over to a record player and put on the track, Pink Floyd, Money. We will then transition back in time to the brothers in the ’70s getting up to all sorts of mischief, stealing cars, money and just being mischievous young men. The twist comes when at the end of the music video we transition back to the present time, and we cut to a shot of the song ending on the record player, and then a slow dolly shot pulling away from our two senior men, then one fades away. The shot will then show the loneliness of Paul sat alone at the table showing emotion, because his older brother has passed away.
I am liking the new idea as I believe we can get a more profound feeling out of our audience from the last scene, it just must be perfect, there is no room for mistakes. If there is a mistake it will ruin the whole feeling of the video. I want this video to be something that I am proud of and look back on with fond memories and a sense of achievement.
Other updates include the fact we now have a set location for the senior boy’s scene; this will now be shot in Wrington Memorial Hall. We also have a location where we will shoot a robbery scene which will be at my Grandmas house! But overall, we are progressing well, I still have some research to be doing over the two weeks term break, and then we will come back on filming week where my batteries will be recharged, and I will be ready to go!
Just a quick note, our recces and risk assessments are now all complete, as well as our call sheets and shot list, the only things we need to complete now are our storyboards, budget, permission forms and communicational evidence.
Finally, this Wednesday we had another group meeting with our teachers on camera to discuss the status of our group. We thoroughly explained our roles and ideas to the teachers as well as conventions as to how we plan on getting all our camera shots. Overall, things went well, and the only changes we needed to make were some to our call sheets which needed the times when we would be filming changed. We also talked about some of our ideas we had for transitions and all our actors we plan to use. Other than this they just told us we need to keep doing what we are doing and keep up the hard work.
